About GEI

Griffith Engineering, Inc., established in September, 2004, is a growing company providing mechanical, electrical and plumbing design services as well as energy analysis and auditing for our clients.

Griffith Engineering, Inc. (GEI) is a proven leader in both the building energy analysis and engineering design industries, and has a growing list of satisfied clients in commercial, federal, and municipal markets. GEI strives to develop innovative and cost effective design solutions, focusing on its clients’ primary goals.

Michael Chad Griffith, PE, CEM, CCP, LEED® AP

President

Chad resides in Dunwoody, GA with his wife and three boys. Outside of managing Griffith Engineering, Chad enjoys spending time with his family and being involved in the local community. Chad has spent time as a Junior Achievement volunteer, serving as a basketball coach for his boys, a deacon in his church, and coaching an Odyssey of the Mind team at a local elementary school. In general, Chad looks forward to opportunities to inspire and motivate people around him to overcome challenges and realize more of their potential. Some of Chad’s hobbies include hiking, traveling, playing basketball, and an occasional triathlon.

Mr. Griffith is the company founder and currently serves as the company's Managing Principal.

He is currently a registered professional engineer in sixteen (16) states as well as a Certified Energy Manager, a Certified Co-Generation Professional and an Accredited Professional for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED AP).

He is also a member of the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES), the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers, Inc. (ASHRAE), the United States Green Building Council (USGBC), the International Code Council (ICC), the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE), the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), theCentral Contractor Registration (CCR) and the Georgia Association of Physical Plant Administrators (GAPPA).

Wally B. Ray, PE, CEM, LEED® AP

Principal Mechanical Engineer

Born and raised in Winston-Salem, NC, Mr. Ray is a 1996 graduate of North Carolina State University with a BS in Mechanical Engineering. He and his wife & twin daughters reside in Cornelius, NC. Outside of his role of managing the Charlotte office of Griffith Engineering, Wally enjoys spending time with his family and being active in his church and community. Wally has spent time volunteering with Habitat for Humanity, serving as a deacon at his church, and helping coach his daughters’ soccer teams. Wally’s personality and management style are “supporter” style and he takes pride in motivating others by encouraging them to reach their potential. Wally enjoys hiking & camping with his family and is a home theater aficionado.

He is a registered professional engineer in five states, a LEED accredited professional and holds a national certificate with NCEES. He leads GEI’s mechanical and plumbing design team in the Charlotte office, and has served as the lead mechanical engineer on a multitude of projects, some of which have obtained LEED-Certification.

Wally also is a member of ASHRAE and the US Green Building Council.

Bart W. Stewart, PE, CEM

Energy Projects Team Leader

Born and raised in Reidsville, GA. Mr. Stewart is a 1994 graduate of Southern Polytechnic State University with a BS in Mechanical Engineering Technology. He currently resides in Atlanta, GA.  Bart is an outgoing person who enjoys working with others and creative problem solving. When he is not working, he enjoys being outdoors. He is an avid boater and enjoys spending weekends on the lake spending time on his boat. He loves to sail, even though his current boat is a powered cruiser, and his long term dream is to live on a sailboat and sail around the world. He collects antique handguns and enjoys shooting. He also is into Garden railroading and setting up G-scale railroads indoors and out. He plays acoustic guitar and enjoys finding unique acoustic musical artists to listen to live at local venues. His love of music plays well into his hobby of putting together sound systems for playing music at friends parties and also helping them set up their home audio systems. He enjoys meeting people and learning about new things and hobbies. He has a General Class Amateur radio license and enjoys chatting on his 2 meter HAM radio. He’s a gadget lover at heart and enjoys finding new electronic and mechanical toys to add to his collection. He has a great dry sense of humor and loves to be with a group a people that enjoy life as he does. Bart enjoys riding motorcycles and is currently hoping to replace the Harley Road King Classic that he sold several years ago. He is happiest when standing around a campfire with good friends listening to good classic rock, country and acoustic folk music.

Awards and Recognitions

At the 2005 Federal Energy Conference in Long Beach, California, a presentation was given on successful Utility Energy Savings Contracts (UESC) by Graham Parker with Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL).  In this presentation Fort McPherson, a GEI project, was highlighted and Griffith Engineering, Inc. was specifically named as a key contributor to its success.

Building Design Industry experience preferred - PE registration desired but not required. HVAC design and AutoCAD experience preferred - plumbing, fire protection and energy auditing experience a plus.
